My children and I want this space to be welcoming — a place to relax, drink coffee, enjoy Nym’s work, and be inspired. Nym, my late husband, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly two years ago. He was a quiet, intricate man with a vast internal landscape of emotions. His work captures haunting memories, longings, and despair about the state of the world, but also biting humor, peaceful moments, and — not least of all — joy. All of this is documented in hundreds of paintings, sketches, drawings, collages, and sculptures left behind. They carry the essence of his life’s message: to create. Our long marriage was defined by a rural, challenging, yet inspirational life — raising children and caring for animals. Like anyone, we faced our own struggles, but through a deep connection, we made the best of it. I feel a profound commitment to sharing Nym’s work and vision with the art world. He struggled with the concept of recognition; every denial of exposure — from galleries, exhibitions, or grants — broke his heart. He wanted so much to share his work, but he was not equipped to "sell" himself. In his later years, he settled into creating quietly. He loved framing his own pieces — a fitting analogy for how he protected himself. After his passing, I spent a year with his work, spending hours in an almost meditative state. After giving up the farm, moving across the mountain, and moving his collection from one storage unit to another, I was eventually led to this space. A happy place. Nym’s Gallery will attract those who seek within, not fame and fortune, but validation. Inner landscapes are always beautiful, no matter the influx of light-a gift to the outer-to those who perceive. About Nym's Artwork
Nym on Making Collages "Paint Like a Child"

"Collage is a great medium for recycling and reordering a small part of the vast tonnage of printed matter that fills our world. The material used in my work comes from newspapers, magazines, old and new books, scraps of paper from packages, cardboard and other sources, as well as parts of my own drawings and water-based paintings. I use glue and acrylic paint medium as adhesives, the latter also serving as a vehicle for transferring printed images and words. Gouache, acrylic, crayon, ink and other media show up in various amounts depending on the work at hand. The images largely grow out of chance meetings between materials The human form as depicted through art is an accurate gauge of many layers of the human condition, as one sees in figure painting since prehistoric times. It reflects who we are as a people and, as a creative endeavor, can help to liberate the human the human spirit from the madness and hatred of war and the multifarious levels of human suffering. That idea is the noble aim. The power of art in our crazy times is perhaps difficult to discern. On a lighter note, making pictures is a joy-bringing activity, and I try o keep in mind the perspective of my sons, who always remind me to "paint like a child"."
